Tom And Jerry Movies A Blast From A Generation Gone By
Animated cartoon series have been a part of most people’s childhood, bugs bunny; daffy duck, the Flintstones and the smurf’s have been around for well over a decade and still make an appearance on millions of television screens around the world. Though one particular cartoon for kids that stands out above the rest is Tom and Jerry; if you were growing up through the 70’s and 80’s you will be all too familiar with this comical cat and mouse duo. The plot is simple, Tom is a cat and Jerry is mouse and even though they are friends at heart they love nothing better than to torment each other; usually with Jerry coming out on top.No matter what mischief they get up to the comedic duo always end up settling things and becoming friends at the end, it’s the slap stick humor in between that gets us ll rolling on the floor with laughter.
Where did Tom and Jerry come from?
No one knows why Tom and Jerry dvd and shorts became so well known around the world, but it could have something to do with the straight forward slap stick humor that can be understood by everyone no matter what language they spoke. The whole thing started with two friends, William Hanna and Joseph Barbara, they were paired up to create the cartoon for kids for the MGM studios, both their artistic talent and directorship flair went hand in hand. During their time working on the animated short they made 116 episodes that were aired on the television to cartoon hungry kids just home from school, due to difficulties MGM dropped the show and the team separated.
The next man to take the job of creative director for this great cartoon for kids was Gene Ditsch a talented artist and filmmaker from the Czech Republic. Gene’s eccentric style completely altered the cozy family appeal of the show and he was soon replaced 3 years later by the infamous Chuck Jones. Tom and Jerry movies - Everybody’s favorite
Since its initial release over 50 years ago the Tom and Jerry series has gone through several different changes, some of these can be attributed to the changing directors and others have to do with keeping up with the times so that it can appeal to young kids. For example there is less and less reference to scenes of war in the cartoons and more to do with technology and city life, you’ll find more mobile phones and sports cars in the new Tom and Jerry episodes.
The latest film by the comical cat and mouse team released in 2005 is titled “Tom and Jerry fast and furry” a take on the popular trendy movie “the fast and furious” a name that would appeal any trendy young child. The plot line revolves around an around the world race going over land, sea and snow in the hopes of winning the trophy at the end. In this Tom and Jerry movie both of them are competitors and have supped up cars that can switch from land mobiles into boats, planes and helicopters at the flick of a button. To make things more interesting both Tom and Jerry’s transportation has a range of booby traps and weaponry to throw the other out of the lead if they need to, the rest is a roller coaster ride with each side aiming for that prize.
Tom and Jerry fast and furry is available on DVD and you can easily find it online with all of the other great series including special box sets dedicated to each of the different creative directors of the series.
